Veteran musher wins UP200

MARQUETTE, MI— For the 9th time, it was Ryan Anderson of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin who crossed the UP200 finish line first Sunday.

Anderson and his team rolled over the finish at Mattson Lower Harbor Park at 1:28 p.m. He was followed by Wade Marrs of Willow, Alaska at 1:47 and Nick Vigilante of Ely, Minnesota at 2:04 p.m.

Five teams did not finish the race.

Mike Bestgen of Clear Lake Township, Minnesota won the Midnight Run. He finished at the Ojibwa Casino Saturday at 11 a.m.

And Erin Schouweiler of Irma, Wisconsin finished first in the Jack Pine 30 with a time of 1 hour, 38 minutes, 54 seconds.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
