Comley inks two-year AD deal at NMU

Northern Michigan University

MARQUETTE, MI— Rick Comley has agreed to a two-year deal as Northern Michigan University’s athletic director.

NMU President Kerri Schuiling made the announcement Tuesday. Comley was named interim AD on August 22 following the departure of Forrest Karr to the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Schuiling said with Northern anticipating hiring a new president this fall, having an experienced AD such as Comley to guide the department takes the pressure off the new president to make an immediate hire.

Comley, a longtime Wildcat hockey coach, is on his second stint as Northern’s Athletic Director, having served the University in that position for 13 years, from 1987-2000.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
