Opening ceremony for State Winter Games in Marquette on Friday

MARQUETTE, MI— The Meijer State Games of Michigan Winter Games are coming to Marquette this weekend.

The multi-sport, Olympic-style event welcomes all athletes, regardless of age or ability.

The eight sports on tap February 10th through the 12th are cross-country skiing, curling, figure skating, ski and snowboard, bowling, sled hockey, luge, and wrestling.

The opening ceremony for the games takes place Friday at 7 p.m. at the Marquette Mountain Resort. It will feature a parade of athletes where athletes, their families, and the public can participate. A “fire tornado” cauldron will be lit, and the end of the ceremony will include fireworks and a rail jam competition.
