Los Angeles, CA - A Northern Michigan University alumnus has been named head coach of the NHL’s L-A Kings. Jim Hiller graduated in 1995 and was inducted into Northern’s Sports Hall of Fame. The Kings selected the British Columbia native in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. Hiller attended NMU from 1989 to 1992… and helped the Wildcats secure the NC-double-A National Championship in 1991. He later played with the Kings, Red Wings, and New York Rangers. Hiller has served as assistant coach in LA for the past 2-seasons… and was elevated to interim head coach in February.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
