Noquemanon Ski Marathon scheduled for Jan. 23 and 24

MARQUETTE, MI— Officials with the Noquemanon Ski Marathon are hoping the white, fluffy stuff sticks around through the next few weeks as trails are groomed for this year’s races.

Noquemanon 2026 is set to take place January 23 and 24 in Marquette County.

Last year’s event was canceled due to a lack of snow. Too few flakes had fallen to create a quality base or cover rock outcroppings and set consistent classic track for such a large event.

Races include the 50K—which takes off from Ishpeming, the 25K—which starts in Negaunee, and the 12K—which begins in Marquette. All races will end at the Northern Michigan University Superior Dome.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
