Noquemanon officials looking for people to help out in the races

MARQUETTE, MI— Volunteers are needed for this year’s Noquemanon ski marathon.

The event celebrates its 27th anniversary January 24th and 25th and crews are readying the trails.

Race coordinator Nicole Dewald Swenson says if it weren't for the hundreds of volunteers, this nationally recognized race could not happen. Volunteer opportunities range widely from out on the trails and at the start lines to the finish line, road crossings, and in the Superior Dome.

Noquemanon officials are using the Marquette County United Way’s “Yoopers United” platform to sign people up for shifts. To volunteer, log on to www.yoopersunited.com and click on the green Noquemanon banner to see what positions are available.  You can also call the race hotline at 866-370-RACE or email noquemanoninfo@gmail.com.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
