In time for back-to-school, the sounds of the NMU Orchestra’s Children’s Concerts reach all ages; music from film scores and familiar themes that are fun for everyone (from February 2019 and 2018).

“Chant and Praise” is the theme of the NMU Choirs & NMU Orchestra concert from April 2019, where each ensemble is featured and then combined for their final piece.  Then, join the Marquette Choral Society for their Russian Nights concert (also from April 2019), featuring Rachmaninoff’s All Night Vigil and more.

The Northern Michigan University Orchestra will perform a Children's Concert for free Wednesday, February 27th at 6pm.  The program is ideal for all ages, but especially catered to children with an exciting program and demonstrations of instruments of the orchestra.

Selections include music from the motion pictures Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, Gladiator, and Pirates of the Caribbean.


NMU Department of Music

Kurt Hauswirth sat down with Dr. Erin Colwitz to talk choir, Bach warmups and kittens in baskets.  Subsequently, they also discussed the upcoming NMU Arts Chorale and NMU University Choir performance on October 22nd, 2017 in Reynolds Recital Hall.
 

The NMU Choirs will be sharing the concert with the NMU Orchestra and NMU String Orchestra.  The program starts at 3pm, Sunday, October 22nd in Reynolds Recital Hall on NMU's campus.
