DEARBORN, MI— More than 109 million people will travel 50 miles or more as they hit the road, board airplanes, or take other transportation out of town between December 23 and January 2.
AAA Michigan says that’s an almost 34-percent increase from 2020.
More than 3.3 million Michiganders are forecast to travel over the same time period. Although that’s 9.9 percent fewer travelers than the record high set back in 2019, it’s still 847,000—or 34 percent—more than last year.
AAA says more than 100 million people plan to drive to their holiday destination. Over 6 million are expected to fly, while 3 million are booking buses, trains and cruises.
