Expect delays if you're flying for a spring vacation, AAA says

DEARBORN, MI— AAA is warning spring break travelers to prepare for longer wait times and increased congestion.

That’s due to decreased TSA staffing levels amid a shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security.

As for air travelers who are facing slower security lines, AAA suggests they check TSA wait times before leaving home and get to the airport at least two to three hours early, even for domestic flights.

Officials recommend using your airline’s mobile app for notifications about changes and delays, avoiding checking bags when possible, and keeping carry-on items organized, which helps lines move faster.

Finally, consider travel insurance, which can help offset the cost of delays, cancellations, or lost luggage.
