DNR deer habitat improvement grants now available

LANSING, MI— The application period for the Upper Peninsula Deer Habitat Improvement Partnership Initiative competitive grant program is now open.

The Department of Natural Resources program is designed to enhance deer habitat on private lands in the U.P. The projects should produce tangible improvements, build long-term partnerships between the DNR and outside organizations, and showcase the benefits to the public.

Grants from a minimum of $2,000 up to $15,000 dollars are available.

Applications must be received electronically or postmarked by March 18th. More information is at www.michigan.gove/DNR-grants

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
