MARQUETTE, MI - Northern Michigan University’s search for a new president has been narrowed to four finalists. The candidates will each visit campus in April when they will make a public presentation that addresses what attracts them to the NMU presidency and how their experience and credentials match the needs and vision of the university. The four finalists include
Cynthia Pemberton, provost and vice president for academic affairs and professor of education at Dickinson State University in Dickinson, N.D.
Robert Ackerman, professor of law and former dean at the Wayne State University Law School in Detroit
Fritz Erickson, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Ferris State University in Big Rapids.
Greg Cant, founding dean of the Offutt School of Business and Robert J. Johnson chair in economics and business administration at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn.
NMU President David Haynes’ two-year term runs through June 30. He announced in December that he will return to the NMU faculty at that time. The hope is to have his successor in place by July 1.
