Federal funds help U.P. police purchase car

KINGSFORD, MI--   Kingsford Police are benefiting from a U.S. Department of Agriculture program. 

The Department of Public Safety is getting a $16,000 grant through the USDA’s Rural Development Community Facility Grant Program, which funds critical infrastructure within rural communities across the country. 

The money will be used to help buy a new police vehicle for the department. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
