Public Radio 90 wins Good News Award

wnmu-fm

Public Radio 90 has received ‘Good News' awards in the Feature Story and Community Involvement categories.

Hans Ahlstrom and student intern Phillip Nichols won for their feature on NMU guest speaker Robert Gupta entitled, “Street Symphony: The Medicine of Music.” In presenting the award, the judges said the story shows "how music affects the brain and how (Gupta) uses his musical talents to help people with mental illness.”

Jason Paul won for his photograph, "Sharin' the Blues" taken at the 2013 Marquette Area Blues Festival. The judges remarked how it "illustrates the value of the arts, community involvement, creativity and the good fun of being outdoors together."

The awards were presented on June 5th at the First Presbyterian Church in Marquette. The annual Good News Awards recognize the positive contributions media outlets from across the Upper Peninsula make to the community.

The annual Good News Awards are sponsored by the judicatory heads of the Catholic, Presbyterian, Evangelical Lutheran, Episcopal, and United Methodist Churches in the central Upper Peninsula.
