Name of museum planned at Rosie site unveiled

YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A new museum planned for the site in Michigan where ‘Rosie the Riveter’ built World War II bombers has been given its name.
Museum officials on Thursday revealed that the attraction west of Detroit will be called the National Museum of Aviation and Technology at Historic Willow Run.
Two ‘Rosies’ unveiled the name and logo during an event near the site in Washtenaw County's Ypsilanti Township.
Earlier in the day, officials signed papers giving control of a 144,000-square-foot slice of the old Willow Run Bomber Plant to the Yankee Air Museum. It plans to build the new museum at the factory site.
The original Rosie, Rose Will Monroe, worked at the plant, which churned out a B-24 Liberator an hour and 8,685 in all.
