LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan's official Christmas tree has arrived at the state Capitol.
The Lansing State Journal reports that the 63-foot blue spruce from the Upper Peninsula has been installed Saturday on Capitol Avenue in downtown Lansing.
The state's 29th Christmas tree came via a large slot-bed trailer from the home of Bill and Helen Bjorkman in Kingsford.
The tree will be strung with thousands of lights to mark the 30th Silver Bells in the City holiday celebration.
The search for the state Christmas tree began in July with nominations, and then the evaluation process started in mid-August.
This is the 20th time the state tree has been selected from the Upper Peninsula.
