Rescued women return to where they were stranded in the U.P.

LUCE COUNTY, MI (AP)--   Two sisters who survived after being stranded for nearly two weeks in a remote part of the eastern U.P. have returned to the area.

The Mining Journal of Marquette reported Friday that 52-year-old Leslie Roy and 56-year-old Lee Wright recently visited the Luce County spot where their SUV became stuck in snow for 13 days in April. Roy says she was "leery" but they wanted to extend their gratitude to rescuers.

Roy, from Nebraska, and Wright, from Oklahoma, were found by a police helicopter pilot who noticed a reflection off their SUV. The area has no cellphone service.

The sisters got stuck about 3 miles from Lake Superior after visiting relatives. They wore layers of clothing, ate snacks and drank melted snow during the ordeal.
