LANSING, Mich. (AP) — State officials have adopted a number of changes in fishing regulations.
The Michigan Natural Resources Commission approved the rules last week. They went into effect immediately and will remain in place through the 2016 fishing season, which begins April 1.
All the changes will be reported soon in the online version of the 2015 Michigan Fishing Guide, available at http://www.michigan.gov/fishingguide .
Among them are special provisions for walleye sportfishing in the Upper Peninsula's Lake Gogebic. They give anglers the option of keeping two smaller walleye measuring 13 to 15 inches as part of the daily possession limit of five.
Also, seven Lower Peninsula lakes were added to the list of waterways where up to five northern pike may be kept in the daily possession limit, including one greater than 24 inches.
