LANSING, MI (AP)-- The state says seasonally unadjusted unemployment rates have changed little in Michigan's 17 major labor market areas.
The Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget announced Thursday that unemployment rate changes in the regions from February to March were minimal. The department said increases and declines were limited to two-tenths of a percentage point or less in the 17 regions.
According to the department, jobless rates went up in eight areas, went down in three regions, and stayed the same in six areas. Small reductions in the jobless rate happened in the Niles-Benton Harbor, Flint, and Monroe metropolitan statistical areas.
Nine of Michigan's 17 major regions in March had jobless rates below the national non-seasonally adjusted rate of 5.1 percent.
