Search continues for missing hunter in Portage Township

PORTAGE TOWNSHIP, MI--   Two downstate K-9 units were brought in to search for a missing hunter in Houghton County over the weekend.

Rodney Granroth, 71, went hunting November 17 in the area of Tapiola Road and Kallungi Road in Portage Township, but never returned. Search teams, friends, family, and community members have scoured the area since that time, with no success.

On Saturday blood hounds from the Southern Michigan K-9 Search and Response Unit and a lab from K-9 One Search and Rescue went out with Michigan Backcountry Search and Rescue to look for Granroth.

No further information has been released.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
