LANSING, MI-- The price of natural gas and propane will remain low, but customers might use more of both this winter compared with last year.
That’s according to the Michigan Agency for Energy, which released its Winter Energy Appraisal Tuesday. Executive Director Valerie Brader says last winter was warm and the state enjoyed near record-low energy prices. This winter there’s plenty of supply and low costs, but a more normal winter will probably mean higher bills.
In Michigan, 77 percent of households heat with natural gas; 9 percent use electricity; 8 percent use propane; 3 percent use wood; 1 percent use heating oil; and 2 percent use another type of heating fuel.
