UPPCO and SWP program to benefit low-income residents

MARQUETTE, MI--   UPPCO and the Superior Watershed Partnership’s Energy Conservation Corp are collaborating on a pilot program designed to help low-income residents access energy conservation services.

Those services consist of education, installation of energy efficient products, and recommendations for additional energy waste reduction savings.

UPPCO’s Brett French says the initiative enhances the utility’s existing energy efficiency program and complements the work currently being done by CLEAResult, Incorporated and Michigan Community Action.

The SWP’s Carl Lindquist says reducing energy waste is an important component of a sustainable energy future in the Upper Peninsula.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
