HOUGHTON, MI-- Upper Peninsula counties affected by last year’s Father’s Day flooding are getting a federal grant to help fix roads.
The Federal Highway Administration is granting $19.2 million to Houghton, Gogebic and Menominee counties. On June 17 the areas received 7 to 10 inches of rain in just a few hours, causing extreme runoff and flooding. State and local Federal-aid routes were significantly damaged, and several bridges and culverts were washed out.
The money will be used to further repair or reconstruct that damage.
