Police find body of missing man

FORSYTH TOWNSHIP, MI--   Police say a body found in the Escanaba River Wednesday is that of a man missing from his Forsyth Township camp. 

Dan McLaughlin, 48, was last seen at his camp on County Road EEH Monday around 4:15 p.m. Several police agencies, family and friends searched for McLaughlin, who was a Type 1 diabetic.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says McLaughlin’s body was found Wednesday afternoon about two miles from his camp. No cause of death has yet been determined, but officials say no foul play is suspected.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Forsyth Township Police, Marquette County Search and Rescue, Valley Med Flight, Michigan State Police K-9 and Aviation, DNR Aviation, and Tri Media.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
