Body found in Menominee river identified as missing hunter

MENOMINEE COUNTY, MI--   The body of a hunter reported missing in Menominee County has been found.

Saturday around 3:45 p.m. sheriff’s deputies responded to a location about a mile north of the Cedar River Campground on a report of a body floating in the Cedar River. The Delta County Sheriff’s Office also responded and assisted with a drone. Officials found a man stuck in a group of ice shoves.

The body was removed from the river by ice and swift water rescue personnel from the Mellen and Cedarville Township fire departments. It was identified as Vladimir Ivanovic, 50, a hunter who was reported missing last November.

Officers say there was no sign of foul play. The county’s assistant medical examiner has ruled the death a cold-water drowning.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
