"A Superior Celebration"...a Found Treasure
I was cleaning out a storage closet the other day and found a treasure.
It was a box of the 1993 CD recording of A Superior Celebration...of Structure & Sound, a beautiful showcase of local talent that pays tribute to north country choirs and the historic halls in which they perform.
WNMU-TV13 produced the CD with funding support from D&N Bank.
It features the music of Handel's Messiah performed by
The Marquette Choral Society and Orchestra at St Peter's Cathedral in Marquette, Michigan, Floyd Slotterback, Conductor;
The Algoma Chamber Singers and Sault Symphony Orchestra at Central United Church in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Patricia Gartshore and John Wilkinson, Conductors;
and the Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra of Michigan Technological University and K.S.O. Festival Chorus at the Calumet Theatre in Calumet, Michigan, Jeffrey Bell-Hanson, Conductor; Daniel Hendrickson, Chorus Master
