One dead in Chippewa County crash that injured 5 others

Rudyard Township, MI - One person is dead following a two vehicle crash in Chippewa County. Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched Wednesday at about 4:22pm to I-75 near 375-Mile Road in Rudyard Township. Officers say a mini van had struck a side-by-side ORV that was traveling on the highway. The driver of the ORV was treated by EMS for life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead-on-arrival at My Michigan Hospital. The occupants of the mini van, a family of 5, were all injured in the crash. One adult and one child were taken to My Michigan Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The other three members of the family were treated at the scene by EMS.
The accident remains under investigation. Assisting at the scene were Kinross EMS, Rudyard Fire, Michigan State Police, Bay Mills PD, Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office Victim Services Unit and several civilians.
