Driver sought in Humboldt Township accident that killed a moose, injured woman

HUMBOLDT TOWNSHIP, MI--   One person is injured, after two vehicles hit a cow moose in Humboldt Township.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened Wednesday around 6:15 p.m. on M-95 about five miles south of US-41.

The first vehicle was northbound when it struck the moose.  The driver is described as about 5’8” tall, in his late 50s to early 60s, with short, gray hair.  He was traveling with a female passenger.

The driver fled the scene shortly after the crash.  Deputies believe alcohol was involved.

A northbound Camry traveling behind the first vehicle also hit the moose, which was still standing in the roadway.  The driver—a 63-year-old Munising woman—was taken to Bell Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The moose was killed as a result of the crashes.

Anyone with information regarding the first vehicle involved in the crash is asked to contact the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office at 225-8435.
