Driver in moose crash steps forward

MARQUETTE, MI--   The driver of a vehicle involved in a crash with a cow moose in Humboldt Township has come forward.  

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office received a call Thursday morning from the driver, who acknowledged his vehicle was one of two that hit the moose on M-95 about five miles south of US-41 Wednesday evening.  His identity has not been released.

The moose was killed in the incident. 

The driver of the second vehicle—a 63-year-old Munising woman—was taken to Bell Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. 

The crash remains under investigation. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
