Teen girls injured in Richmond Township ATV crash

PALMER, MI--   Two 13-year-old girls have been injured in a four-wheeler accident in Marquette County.

Sheriff’s deputies say the crash happened Monday around 6:45 p.m. along the power line just north of Kirkpatrick Avenue in Palmer.

The 13-year-old female driver from Palmer was westbound with a 13-year-old female passenger from Ishpeming when high grass prevented her from seeing an embankment.  The ATV hit the embankment and rolled over on top of the girls.  The driver’s father was at the scene and was able to lift the four-wheeler off of them.

Both girls were taken to Marquette General Hospital, treated and later released.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
