Doyle Township fire victims identified

DOYLE TOWNSHIP, MI--   State Police have released the names of the people whose bodies were found in a burned vehicle in Schoolcraft County’s Doyle Township last week.

Preliminary results indicate the male victim is Jody Hutchinson, 42, of Gould City.  The women have been identified as Carrie Nelson, 31, and her sister Heather Aldrich, 25, both of Germfask.

Autopsies on the victims were performed earlier this week.  Police await DNA and other test results.  There’s no indication yet if the three died before or because of the fire, and the cause of the blaze itself hasn’t been determined.

Detective Sergeant Jeremy Hauswirth of the Gladstone post says it appears the car was not being driven when the fire occurred.

The case remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
