Woman hit by car in Houghton

HOUGHTON, MI--   A Hancock woman was injured in a car-pedestrian accident in Houghton last week.  

City police say Friday around 3:50 p.m. a 46-year-old Houghton woman was pulling from Huron Street onto Shelden Avenue when she struck the Hancock woman, who was walking across Shelden. 

The pedestrian was taken to U.P. Health System Portage for treatment. 

The driver was cited for failing to yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
