Two vehicles involved in Iron Mountain accident

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   One person was taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash in Iron Mountain.

City Police say it happened Tuesday around 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of Carpenter Avenue and Woodward Avenue.

A passenger vehicle driven by a 43-year-old man was northbound on Carpenter when an SUV driven by an 85-year-old man tried to turn left onto Woodward in front of him.

The younger man was taken to Dickinson County Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The older man was cited for failure to yield left turn.

The Iron Mountain Fire Department and Kingsford Public Safety assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
