ORV driver injured in Spalding Township crash

SPALDING TOWNSHIP, MI— Michigan State Police from the Gladstone Post are investigating a crash between a vehicle and an ORV in Menominee County.

Troopers say it happened Monday around 1:30 p.m. on M-69 near Stebbens Road in Spalding Township. A northbound vehicle was trying to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone when it struck an ORV attempting to cross M-69 to a private trail.

The ORV driver was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to UPHS-Marquette, where he remains in stable condition.

No names have been released. The crash remains under investigation.

Troopers were assisted by the Hannahville Police Department, Menominee County Sheriff’s Office, Rampart E-M-S, and the Spalding Township Fire Department.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
