One killed, one injured in Marinette County accident

GROVER, WI— A crash between a passenger car and a semi has claimed the life of a woman in Marinette County, Wisconsin.

The Sheriff’s Office says it happened Saturday just after 5 a.m. on US-41 near Kasal Lane in the town of Grover.

The car tried to pull northbound onto the highway from the median or was attempting to cross to Kasal Lane when it entered the path of a semi pulling a dump trailer full of scrap metal. The impact sent the truck into the east ditch, where it overturned. The car spun down the southbound lanes.

The driver of the car—67-year-old Kathy Trepanier of Grover—was ejected and later pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi—64-year-old Lowell Reeck of Pulaski—was trapped in the wreckage. After lengthy extrication efforts he was freed, then taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
