Dump truck hits car in Negaunee

NEGAUNEE, MI— One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Negaunee Wednesday.

City Police say it happened around 8:20 a.m. at the intersection of US-41 and Malton Road.

A dump truck driven by an 80-year-old Ishpeming man was trying to turn left onto the highway when he hit an eastbound Chevy Cobalt driven by a 27-year-old Champion man.

The dump truck driver was not injured. The driver of the Cobalt was taken to UPHS-Bell for treatment of his injuries.

The truck driver was found to be at fault for failure to yield.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
