Minor injuries reported in Marquette County crash between pickup and semi

MARQUETTE, MI— Traffic on US-41 and M-95 were backed up for a couple of hours Monday, following a two-vehicle accident.

The Marquette County Sheriff's Office was dispatched just before 8 a.m. on a report a pickup and semi cab without a trailer had crashed. The pickup, driven by a 29-year-old Republic man, was turning westbound onto US-41 when it was struck by the semi, driven by a 41-year-old Carney man. The pickup truck spun and came to rest in the driveway of the Corner Café.

The driver of the pickup was taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of minor injuries. He was cited for failing to yield the right of way.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
