Man injured, woman arrested following Negaunee crash

NEGAUNEE, MI— One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Negaunee on Friday.

City Police were called around 9:25 p.m. to US-41 near Water Street.

They say a 40-year-old woman was westbound in a Jeep Grand Cherokee when she struck the rear of a Chevy Silverado driven by a 74-year-old man. His vehicle rolled over.

The man was taken to UPHS-Marquette with minor injuries.

The woman was arrested and lodged in the Marquette County Jail.

Officials say alcohol and/or drugs are believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
