Minor injuries reported in Champion crash

CHAMPION, MI— US-41 in Champion was closed for a couple of hours Monday, following a crash between a semi and another vehicle.

The accident happened around 11:15 a.m. near Daliba Street.

Officials say a driver pulled off of County Road AAJ into the Champion Post Office parking lot. A semi traveling in the opposite direction crossed the centerline in order to avoid a crash but clipped the other vehicle.

The driver of the semi was not injured. The driver of the car was taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of minor injuries.

The highway reopened around 12:50 p.m.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
