Crash of pickup truck claims man's life in Menominee County

MENOMINEE COUNTY, MI— A driver died in a single-vehicle accident in Menominee County Tuesday.

Sheriff Mike Holmes says around 3:45 p.m., deputies were dispatched to M-35 and Million Dollar Road. They found a man was entrapped in a pickup truck and not breathing.

The truck had apparently left the roadway and struck a large tree, causing airbag deployment. The driver and sole occupant, a 64-year-old Cedar River man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office at 906-863-4441. Information may also be reported anonymously via the Crime Stoppers of Marinette and Menominee County Facebook page, or through the Crime Stoppers mobile tip app.

Assisting in the incident were the City of Menominee Fire Department, Menominee-Ingallston Fire Department, the Michigan DNR Law Enforcement Division, Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area Paramedics, Emergency Rescue Squad, Menominee County 911, the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office Victim Services Unit, and Anderson-Diehm Funeral Home.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
