Osceola Township crash splits pickup truck into two pieces

OSCEOLA TOWNSHIP, MI— A Houghton County traffic accident split a pickup into two on Tuesday.

Michigan State Police from the Calumet Post responded around 7:48 p.m. to M-26 near Junction Road in Osceola Township.

Investigation reveals a southbound driver lost control of his pickup, which began sliding sideways. It crossed the centerline and struck a northbound pickup that had a plow attached.

The force of the crash split the southbound vehicle into two pieces.

Both drivers and a passenger in the northbound vehicle were taken to UPHS-Portage for treatment.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Michigan State Police were assisted at the scene by the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office, Hancock City Police Department, Lake Linden Village Police Department, Laurium Village Police Department, Mercy EMS, Tamarack City Fire Department, Hubbell Fire Department, Dollar Bay Fire Department, and Superior Service.
