Motorcycle hits stopped car in Dickinson County

QUINNESEC, MI— A North Dakota man was injured Tuesday when his motorcycle hit a vehicle in Quinnesec.

Dickinson County Sheriff’s deputies were called around 8:17 a.m. to the intersection of US-2 and US-141.

The motorcycle driver, a 69-year-old man, was westbound on US-2 when he collided with a car stopped at a red light. The cyclist was taken to Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson for treatment of injuries. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The driver of the vehicle, a 70-year-old Gladstone man, was not injured.

The crash is under investigation, but the Sheriff’s Office says preliminary findings show the motorcyclist is at fault.

Assisting at the scene were the Iron Mountain Police Department, Kingsford Public Safety, the Breitung Township Fire Department, and Integrity Care EMS.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
