Inappropriate left turn the cause of Marquette crash, police say

MARQUETTE, MI— Several people suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Marquette Thursday.

City Police responded around 8:30 p.m. to the intersection of US-41 and McClellan Avenue.

Officers say a vehicle driven by a 58-year-old Traverse City woman was westbound on US-41 and made an improper turn south onto McClellan. She crossed into the path of an eastbound vehicle driven by a 25-year-old Marquette man, who had a green light.

The driver and several passengers of the first vehicle were taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of minor injuries. The Marquette man sought his own treatment for minor injuries.

Assisting in the incident were the Marquette City Fire Department, UPHS-EMS, Michigan State Police, and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
