Negaunee – State Police at the Negaunee post are searching for a man who is pretending to be a law enforcement officer. Troopers say last Thursday a woman motorist was on Midway Drive in Negaunee Township when she was stopped by what she thought was a police vehicle. A man who identified himself as the "Sheriff" told the woman he was going to search the car on suspicion of drugs. After a ten-minute search of the vehicle and driver, the victim was allowed to leave. The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, between 6 and 6-feet-5-inches tall. He was wearing a blue jacket and dark,
police-like garrison hat. The man was driving a white car with blue-tinted Xenon headlights, and a single blue flashing light was mounted on the dashboard. Anyone who observed this incident is asked to call Negaunee State Police at 475-9922.
