Marquette, MI – A number of Northern Michigan University students and faculty have won 2004-2005 Broadcast Excellence Awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. They were honored in the Market-4 category, which includes radio and television stations in Marquette, Escanaba, Alpena, and other markets of comparable size. The top winner for the TV News Special category went to Michigan's Gray Wolf: Ghost of the Big Timber, produced by Communication and Performance Studies professor Dwight Brady and alumnus Nick Van Court. A radio piece, entitled West African Musician
Mady Kouyate, Interview and Performance,
won first place in the Special Interest Programming category. It was produced by CAPS professor Chuck Ganzert, Public Radio 90's Jane Cisluycis, and student Peter Albrecht. Honorable Mentions were also given to a Meet the Candidate program, sponsored by ASNMU Student Government, and a radio public service announcement. All pieces were broadcast either on Public Radio 90 or Public TV 13.
