Upper Peninsula – The U0pper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team is warning people about possible hazardous materials they find while doing spring cleanup. The UPSET Clandestine Lab Enforcement Team says Methamphetamine production is up statewide, and lab waste may be dumped in wooded areas or roadsides. Officials note coming into contact with a Meth dumpsite may cause serious injury, and must be cleaned up by professionals. Items to steer clear of include bottles containing unknown liquids, propane tanks, drain cleaner, fuel or alcohol cans, bottles or jugs with tubing coming from the top, battery casings, and cold tablet boxes. Anyone who finds such items should refrain from touching them, then call UPSET at 800-882-8202, or 866-METH-TIP. They can also call 9-1-1.
