Marquette, MI – Organizers say this year's 6th annual Ore to Shore mountain bike race could be the best ever. The race is the largest mass start point-to-point race in the state, with nearly 2000 bikers already registered. The Soft Rock 28 mile race starts in downtown Negaunee and concludes at Lakeview Arena in Marquette. The longer Hard Rock 48 mile race also starts in Negaunee, but snakes around the trails north of Ishpeming before joining up with the Soft Rock trail towards Marquette. Race marketing director Bob Hendrickson says weather and trail conditions should be very good for this year's outing. The race begins Saturday in Negaunee. Final registration will be held from 6-9 p.m. at Lakeview Arena.
