By Carla E. Kinder

Upper Peninsula, MI – One of the largest corporate timberland owners in the nation has decided to purchase 650,000 acres of forest in the Upper Peninsula. Plum Creek Timber, based in Seattle, says it has agreed to purchase the property from Escanaba Timber for nearly 3.5 million dollars. This purchase would make Plum Creek Timber the biggest private landowner in the state of Michigan.
