Sault Ste. Marie, MI – The Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians have announced that they will exceed their annual limit of the amount of cigarettes and gasoline they can purchase tax-free. Under the current agreement with the State of Michigan, the Sault Tribe can sell certain amounts, which includes a tax exemption that is passed onto tribe members. The tribe predicts that they will exceed the amount by the end of the month and will no longer receive the tax savings until January 1st, 2006.
