Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land designated as a leader in technological advancement

By Carla E. Kinder

Lansing, MI – Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land has been named one of Government Technology magazine's Top 25 Doers, Dreamers, and Drivers for 2005. The publication's March cover story says the designation is reserved for those who redefine and advance technology's role in government and society. Land was chosen for her leadership in the realization of the Real ID Act passed by Congress last year. The act creates new requirements for state driver licensing. The magazine praises her suggestion to create a driver's license that complies with the Real ID Act and also serves as a passport for travel in the Western Hemisphere. Steve Towns, the magazine's editor, says building connected, intelligent communities in the imagination age is key.
Government Technology magazine was established in 1987 and is published in Folsom, California. It has a readership of more than 250,000. The March cover story is at www.govtech.net.
