UPWP receives grant from the National Writing Project

By Carla E. Kinder

Marquette, MI – The Upper Peninsula Writing Project at Northern Michigan University has received more than $50,000 in grants from the National Writing Project. The UPWP was awarded the largest portion of the grants based on positive feedback from the National Writing Project. The top 10 poets chosen by NMU faculty and graduate assistants from the English Department will receive savings bonds. A luncheon and a poetry reading by entrants of the competition will be held on May 20th at the Landmark Inn. UPWP is a university-based organization dedicated to improving teaching of writing.
